Radon Mitigation York

York County service areas

York city is home base. The rest of the map is the York County towns we already drive — not a statewide list we do not actually work.

Towns we actually drive

Each town page has a local note (housing, river, mill town, or the county line) and links back to the mitigation process plus two or three services.

  • York City

The county seat, not a 2015 subdivision with one slab speech. Downtown brick, stone basements, and township ranches a few minutes out.

  • Red Lion, PA

Southern York, PA-74. A former cigar-town core of brick houses next to later streets that still sit on the same Zone 1 soil.

  • Dallastown, PA

Next to Red Lion, small borough streets plus later houses. Same county soil, shorter drive than a Harrisburg dispatch.

  • Spring Grove, PA

Southwestern York, mill-town core. Older houses near the paper mill and ranches with crawls that still sit on Zone 1 ground.

  • Dover, PA

Northwestern York, PA-74 toward Harrisburg. Older borough lots plus township subdivisions that may already have a passive pipe.

  • Shrewsbury, PA

Southern York, I-83, a few miles from Maryland. Town lots plus later houses that still need a York County test, not a Baltimore dispatch.

  • Hanover, PA

Southwestern York County’s commercial pull. Most of Hanover borough is in this county — we treat that edge as a real job area, not a second state.

  • Hellam, PA

Eastern township country between York city and the river. Farmhouses, later ranches, and crawls that do not match a downtown row.

  • Wrightsville, PA

Eastern York on the Susquehanna, across from Columbia. Older river-town houses and some lower lots — still Zone 1 soil, not a Lancaster dispatch.

  • York Township

York Township is the suburban and farm ground south of York city, including Leaders Heights. It is not the city, and it is not York Township in some other state.

  • Springettsbury Township

Springettsbury is east of the city along US-30, from the Memory Lane era houses to later neighborhoods behind the commercial strip. Basements are the default.

  • Manchester Township

Manchester Township is north of the city along I-83, including Emigsville. It is not Manchester Borough. The township is the larger set of farms, ranches, and newer subdivisions.

  • West Manchester Township

West Manchester Township is the west side of York, along US-30, with mid-century neighborhoods and later houses behind the commercial frontage.

  • Spring Garden Township

Spring Garden Township wraps much of York city on the west and south. The streets feel like the city. The municipality is the township, and the radon work follows the foundation.

  • North York Borough

North York is a borough squeezed against the north side of the city. Lots are small, houses are older, and the basement is usually the lowest room someone actually uses.

  • Dover Township

Dover Township surrounds Dover borough north of York. Farms, village-edge houses, and newer subdivisions share Zone 1 soil and not one foundation type.

  • Windsor Township

Windsor Township surrounds much of the Red Lion area southeast of York. The borough has the center. The township has the houses on the roads leading out.

  • Shrewsbury Township

Shrewsbury Township is southern York County along I-83, around Shrewsbury borough and toward the Maryland line. The borough page does not cover the township lots.

  • West York Borough

West York is a borough on the west side of the city, with small lots and older houses. It is not West Manchester Township. Basements are tight, and the pipe has to clear nearby windows.

  • Hallam Borough

Hallam is a small borough east of York, in the Hellam area but not the same municipality as Hellam Township. The houses are older and close to the street.

  • Jacobus Borough

Jacobus is a small borough south of York, between the city and the Loganville side. The streets are local. The basements are still Zone 1 basements.

  • New Freedom Borough

New Freedom is a southern borough along the I-83 corridor, near the Maryland line. Being near the line does not move it out of York County’s radon zone.

  • Glen Rock Borough

Glen Rock is a southern York County borough in a tight valley along the creek. Older houses, small lots, and basements that stay closed in winter.

  • Loganville Borough

Loganville is a small borough south of York, between Jacobus and the Shrewsbury side. The housing is a village scale, and the tests are still Zone 1 tests.

  • Yoe Borough

Yoe is a small borough tucked among Dallastown, Red Lion, and the southeast side of York. The houses are close. The basements are still worth testing.

  • York Haven Borough

York Haven is a small borough on the Susquehanna in northern York County. The river is the view. The radon is still a soil-gas question under the house.

  • Mount Wolf Borough

Mount Wolf is a borough north of York, in the East Manchester area, with a small-town grid and basements that deserve a test like the rest of the county.

  • Manchester Borough

Manchester Borough is the incorporated town north of York. Manchester Township is the larger municipality around it. Same first name, different basements and different offices.

  • East Manchester Township

East Manchester Township is north of York, around Mount Wolf and the Manchester side, with farms, village-edge houses, and newer basements on Zone 1 ground.

  • Newberry Township

Newberry Township is northwestern York County, toward the Susquehanna and the Cumberland County line. It is a large township. The radon zone does not change across it.

  • Fairview Township

Fairview Township is in northwestern York County, along the river side toward New Cumberland’s county line. This is the York County Fairview, not a township of the same name elsewhere.

  • Lower Windsor Township

Lower Windsor Township is the southeastern river side of York County, hillier than Windsor Township and closer to the Susquehanna. Wrightsville is the borough people use as a landmark.

  • Penn Township

Penn Township in York County wraps Hanover. It is not the Penn Township in other counties. Hanover borough has its own page. This one is the township around it.

  • Conewago Township

This Conewago Township is in York County, north of the city, between the Dover side and Newberry. Adams County has a different Conewago Township beside Hanover.

  • West Manheim Township

West Manheim Township is southwest of Hanover, toward the Maryland line. It is township ground: farms, newer houses, and basements that still sit in a Zone 1 county.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only work in York city?

No. City work is the center. The map also includes York County townships and boroughs with their own pages, including Springettsbury, Manchester, West Manchester, Spring Garden, Dover, Windsor, and Shrewsbury. The full list is on this hub.

Why is Hanover on a York County map?

Most of Hanover borough is in York County. The Adams line sits immediately west. The Hanover page says so instead of redrawing the county line.
